Shaped from a downed apple tree in Oregon, this one-of-a-kind pepper mill carries both beauty and story. Each piece begins with carefully dried wood, which is then cut into a rough form that’s left to cure for several months before being shaped on the lathe into its final elegant form. After turning, it’s sanded to a silky smooth finish and sealed with a durable varnish to preserve its natural character for decades to come.

The wood itself is spalted apple, a rarity formed when certain fungi create intricate black lines and subtle color variations within the grain. Far from a flaw, spalting is a natural process that highlights the passage of time—something that can’t be replicated or rushed. This tall pepper mill has a durable finish and does not need to be oiled. Simply wipe with a damp cloth to clean. 

The coarseness of the grind can be adjusted by tightening or loosening the knob with your fingertips. Use a coarse grind while cooking, then twist to switch to a fine grind for serving.
